Inspired by the the healing process that comes out of devastation, Sydney Brown poetically alludes to the scorched earth from the volcanic eruption near her Hawaiian home and Californian wildfires. She incorporated the element of fire into the collection by using shou sugi ban, the Japanese art of charring, preserving and wood finishing on the heal.
