Furthermore, the more chemicals are used, the more the soil deteriorates, the insects adapt, and even more chemicals are needed. These chemicals  weaken the structure of the cotton, making it less soft and less durable. Organic cotton not only eliminates toxic chemicals that make farmers sick, but also provides a framework for increasing health and productivity of soil through crop rotation, water management, and natural, safe alternatives to chemical pesticides.
